I’m Sydney Baye. I was raised in a camper van by my young hippie parents seeking out the next campsite and climbing rock. I’m a former model, an unschooling kind of mother, offbeat and an open book; by the end of your wedding night, I will have befriended your entire guest list.
Most people in this industry have this beautiful story on how they came to be a photographer. “My dad bought me a camera for Christmas when I was five years old.” You know…those stories.
Not me. You see, I dropped out of the glamorous modeling world, landed myself in business school and–truthfully–hated being told what to do. I wanted to be my own boss and flex my creativity. I knew the camera well, so I bought my own, dropped out of business school and, within the first month of shooting, had 18 clients. The rest, as they say, is history.
I see the world through photographs. A couple runs across the street holding hands, and in my head I hear click-click-click as my eyes track like with the frame and shutter of my camera. Light will dance on a wall and I see the veil of a bride caressing her cheek as I create her bridal portraits. It excites me to no end to be entrusted with the record-keeping of some of the biggest and most important moments of your life. If you’re with me, let’s talk. I’d love to get to know your story.
